Job PurposeProvide technical expertise, which may be equipment-based or repair-technique-based, to ensure the availability and maintainability of the facility. Functional Duties (up to 15)1. Serve as a subject-matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root-cause investigations. 2. Provide engineering support to plant issues impacting production over a short period of time. 3. Provide technical expertise to plant personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluate equipment’s durability and conditions. 4. Ensure that requests for equipment critical to work process include engineering input on repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc., and if necessary provide onsite/offsite technical support for deviations from this data. 5. Ensure that repairs, repair techniques, equipment specific training, are documented and accessible. 6. Support the PPM coordinator as required in reviewing spare parts’ list for existing equipment. 7. Develop maintenance’s operating discipline and provide maintainability input to projects. 8. Enter QSPP information into the reporting system. 9. Participate in developing the maintenance budget to support the maintenance strategy. 10. As required, provide engineering input to work packages to ensure standards are followed. 11. Provide input on development of work orders, particularly on critical equipment that requires engineering review. 12. Comply with EH&S guidelines and overall safety processes. 13. Perform any job-related activities as requested by the immediate supervisor / manager. Additional duties as per assigned service lines within maintenance engineering technologist divisions: Maintenance Engineer Responsible for Maintenance Engineering work related to all non-Instrument or Electrical equipment. Maintenance Instrument Engineer Responsible for Maintenance Engineering work related to all Instrument equipment. This role is spread across an envelope or site vs. a “Maintenance Engineer,” who is normally tied to a plant. Maintenance Electrical Engineer Responsible for Maintenance Engineering work related to all Electrical equipment. Typically, this role is spread across an envelope or site vs. a “Maintenance Engineer,” who is normally tied to a plant. Materials Engineer Responsible for supporting other “Maintenance Engineers” and other roles, specifically related to materials issues, e.g., selection, corrosion issues, etc. Job Specifications Academic and Professional Qualifications (minimum) Level (GC)EducationCertifications, Licenses, and Designations 10· Essential: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
